The trailer of Akshay Kumar’s ambitious project, Mission Mangal, ws launched on Thursday and the entire team of the film were present at the event. Since the film is based on the true story behind India’s mission to Mars and the contribution of women scientists in that particular mission, the actresses who play those scientists in the film were all there, dressed up in pretty sarees and looking their parts. Present at the event were Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi and H G Dattatreya who are seen in pivotal roles in the film. And while all the stars spoke about the journey of Mission Mangal, Akshay Kumar seemed in a super light-hearted mood. He seemed to have made up his mind to pull everyone’s leg and well, who can crack you up better than the Khiladi Kumar.
Among the many instances there were a few that we found to be super hilarious. It so happened that Nithya Menen, who is primarily a South Indian actress, will be debuting in Bollywood with Mission Mangal. She was expressing her delight at being welcomed so warmly into the industry and also spoke about how Akshay would insist on having food together everyday. She said that it helped her get comfortable with the team. However, Akshay interupted this emotional speech and mentioned that he was the only one who would get food. As soon as he said that there would be a menu and everyone would order their choice of food that they wanted from Akshay’s home kitchen. At this point everyone added that he would indeed get lots of food. Akshay claimed that he had turned into a ‘dabbewala’ and that his wife would have been wondering why was so much food going to the sets.
Apart from this, Akshay even took a dig at Vidya Balan saying that her parents must have celebrated her birth rejoicing that a ‘National Award’ was born to them. Watch the hilarious video here:
Didn’t Akshay’s avatar in this video remind you of all the times the star has done a comic turn in his movies? It surely reminded us especially of his roles in Hera Pheri and Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Anyway, jokes apart, the trailer of Mission Mangal does look promising and we think this one’s going to take the box office by storm for sure.
Talking about Mission Mangal, it is directed by Jagan Shakti and is based on the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), or the Mangalyaan project launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in November 2013, to put a space probe in the planet Mars’ orbit. Produced by Cape of Good Films, Fox Star Studios and Hope Productions, Mission Mangal will hit the theatres on August 15 (Independence Day).
