Two arrested in Emeryville makeup store armed robbery

Two people armed with knives robbed an Emeryville makeup store Friday evening, police said.

Emeryville police arrested Lamonte Hardman, 47, and Shavonna Johnson, 29, both of Oakland, on robbery charges as well as probation violations for the crime at ULTA Beauty on Emery Street.

Police said Hardman and Johnson stole merchandise from the store around 7:15 p.m. Friday and brandished the knives when they were confronted.

A witness told police the pair left the store and walked to a nearby encampment on the 3500 block of Peralta Street, where they hid in a tent.

Police said they arrested Hardman and Johnson there.
