Sheriff: Burglar targeted Woodside school, store

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man they said burglarized a Woodside school and tried to break into a store before he was arrested Friday morning.

Deputies were called to Woodside Elementary School just after 6 a.m. Friday for an alarm. They found a classroom window had been smashed and several laptops had been brought out to a bench, and there was a stolen van in the school’s parking lot, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said.

A backpack inside the van had a wristband from the San Mateo County jail belonging to 45-year-old Justin Huff, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office said Huff also smashed a window at the Woodside Little Store but wasn’t able to get inside.

Deputies searched the area and put out an alert with Huff’s description. They later found him on Kings Mountain Road in Woodside, authorities said.

Huff was held on tentative charges of burglary, vehicle theft, possessing stolen property and resisting arrest, according to the sheriff’s office.
