San Jose community briefs for the week of July 26

Cider Walk

Even San Jose residents who don’t consider themselves beer buffs can celebrate Silicon Valley Beer Week with a July 27 Ciderwalk through Santana Row in Downtown San Jose. The walk consists of tastes from five breweries at five locations, including Left Bank Brasserie, Rosie McCann, Sino and Straits Restaurant. The event runs 2-5 p.m., and no ticket or registration is required.

Sunday Funday

Head to Plaza de César Chávez this weekend with the whole family to participate in Sunday Funday at Plaza, an event in this year’s Viva Parks Summer Series. The festivities are set for July 28, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and include food trucks, music and children’s activities. Programming is free.

Scavenger hunt

San Jose parks are offering a huge incentive for residents to get out and enjoy local green spaces during National Park and Recreation Month. The city’sParks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department has partnered with the San Jose Parks Foundation to create a series of scavenger hunts with a $500 cash prize. On July 27 and 28, check out @sjparksandrec, @SanJoseParks, as well as KSOL 98.9 FM and Saigon Radio 1430 AM for clues. The scavenger hunt wraps up 2 p.m. Sunday.
