Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has taken a sly at his country after its poor fan attendance in the ongoing clash against India at Edgbaston. That India would enjoy a partisan crowd at this venue was very much on the cards. There is a strong Indian community in Birmingham and the Indian fans were bound to attend the game in large numbers.
Team India has enjoyed a strong crowd in all the games of the ongoing World Cup. And while many were expecting a strong Indian crowd for the ongoing game too, not many were expecting such a strong one that would even overshadow the hosts’ attendance. And Michael Vaughan perfectly summed by England fans’ poor attendance in the stadium.

The ex-cricketer-turned-commentator took to Twitter to take a dig at his compatriots, writing:
“So far we have counted 86 England fans at Edgbaston .. Including the team & management .. #CWC19”

India, meanwhile, will have a chance to seal their spot in the final four today. The Men in Blue, who are yet to lose a game in the competition, have accumulated 11 points from 6 games. India now need just a solitary point from 3 games to progress ahead. After the ongoing game, India will lock horns against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and will be confident of going ahead.
On the other hand, England are in a spot of bother. They need to win both of their remaining games to ensure a spot in the semifinal. In case they lost even one game, they are likely to depend on other results to make it to the last four. England have suffered three losses in the competition already including two back-to-back when they failed to chase down 232 and 285 against Sri Lanka and Australia respectively.
