Pakistan could only score 105 runs after Windies skipper Jason Holder won the toss and decided to make the most of gloomy conditions at Trent Bridge, Nottingham against Pakistan in the second match of the ICC World Cup 2019. The West Indies made good use of the conditions and tested Pakistan batsman with short stuff.

Pakistan got off to a worse possible start as Imam-ul-Haq was dismissed by Sheldon Cottrell. The left-hander was caught behind off an innocuous delivery down the leg side as he scored only two from 11 deliveries.

Pakistan was tested by the short stuff.

Fakhar Zaman was the next to go as the southpaw got an inside edge back onto the stumps while trying to pull against Andre Russell. Harris Sohail could not judge the short delivery against Russell and Shai Hope had another catch to his bag.

Subsequently, the onus was on Babar Azam and skipper Sarfraz Ahmed. In fact, Azam had the rub off the green on his side as he was dropped by Shimron Hetmyer at the point region. However, Azam who has the best technique could not make the most of his second chance as he threw his hands at the ball and got an outside edge which was taken by the Windies gloveman.

Furthermore, Sarfraz Ahmed was dismissed in a similar fashion as Imam-ul-Haq as the Pakistan skipper could a glove to Shai Hope.

Imad Wasim was also sent back to the pavilion when he was troubled by Jason Holder and the ball ballooned to Chris Gayle at first slip. Moreover, Shadab Khan was also plumbed in front by Oshane Thomas. Hasan Ali tried to go for the big shot against Holder but gave a simple catch to Sheldon Cottrell at mid-off. Mohammed Hafeez’s stay at the crease was put paid by another bouncer from Oshane Thomas with Cottrell taking a simple catch.

Jason Holder and Oshane Thomas scalped three wickets each whereas Andre Russell took two wickets.
