ICC World Cup 2019: Twitter Reacts As England Post A Huge Total Against India

Twitter Reactions

England posted a gargantuan score of 337 runs after their skipper Eoin Morgan won the toss and decided to bat first. The England openers got off to flying start as Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy were able to hit the ground running. In fact, the right-handed pair were kept quite by Indian seamers but both the right unleashed their attack against the spinners.

Jason Roy, who was coming back after missing three matches due to a hamstring tear, showed what England was missing in their last few matches. In fact, Roy had the rub of the green on his side when Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni decided not to go for the review when the right-hander had gloved the ball against Hardik Pandya.

England was brilliant.

Roy made sure that he made India pay a hefty prize for their misjudgement. Bairstow and Roy timed the ball with perfection as they catapulted their attack on the Indian spinners and Hardik Pandya.

Both the right-hander made good use of the feet to get to the pitch of the ball and deposit the same in the stands. England openers added a fine alliance of 160 runs in 22 overs to lay down a solid foundation.

India needed something to break the partnership and it was produced by their twelfth man, Ravindra Jadeja. Roy smashed Kuldeep Yadav straight down the ground but the gun-fielder was quick to make ground and took a blinder.

Jonny Bairstow continued and completed his maiden World Cup hundred to let his bat do all the talking for him. Subsequently, Ben Stokes was able to get going and completed his fifty off 38 balls whereas Joe Root played in his typical style to score 44 from 54 balls.

Mohammed Shami was the pick of the Indian bowlers as the fast bowler scalped five wickets and continued to be amongst the wickets.
